NEW DRAMA FESTIVAL IN PERM / 20 - 24 March, 2009
The New Drama Festival On Tour programme will take place in Perm, Russia, from March 20 to March 24, 2009.
The Perm programme of the New Drama Festival will be supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and by the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of the Perm Region. The organizers of the Festival are Praktika Theatre (Moscow) and Theatre.doc (Moscow). The main venue for the festival is the Perm Academic “Theatre Theatre”.
The programme will include productions based on contemporary plays including:
The New Drama Best Play Award which annually is given to the best play written in Russia will this time take place in the Perm region and will involve local playwrights. The aim of the Award is discovering new names and promoting contemporary writing locally. The short-listed texts will be presented in staged readings during the Festival.

- SOMEWHERE AND AROUND by Anna Yablonskaya. Directed by Damir Salimzyanov / Paraphrase Theatre, Glazov (Udmurtia)
As a pre-event to the Festival (March 16-19) playwright and Director Mikhail Ugarov will lead a Laboratory with young directors and actors of Perm and Moscow theatres who will work together on identifying the possible acting approaches to new writing.
The Special Programme of the Festival will traditionally include discussions, readings of new plays, a movie programme, presentations of new theatre projects.
